The polar bears in Mulhouse added to the family: a baby was born in the zoo in the Alsatian city of Mulhouse.
The little one is already a few weeks old, as the zoo has now announced.
Polar bear mama Sesi gave birth to the baby on November 22nd.
It doesn't have a name yet - park visitors should soon vote on a selection.
It is still uncertain whether the offspring are male or female.
Mother and baby are still separate, and there has never been any contact with people.
The zoo's vet, Benoît Quintard, said you should stay careful in the approach steps and be careful not to create a fuss around the two of them.
The zoo teams followed Mama Sesi and her child on camera.
Soon the public should also be able to marvel at the two on their screens.
According to the zoo, it is only the fifth time in more than 20 years that a viable polar bear baby has been born in France.
Nanuq, the big sister of the new polar bear, was born in Mulhouse at the end of 2016 and now lives in Munich's Hellabrunn Zoo.
