Stellantis is born, fourth car manufacturer in the world with 8.1 million cars sold, behind GM, Volkswagen and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance. The shareholders of FCA and PSA have given the green light to the merger with 99.1% of the votes. (HANDLE)


(ANSA) - TURIN, 04 JAN - Stellantis is born, the fourth largest car manufacturer in the world with 8.1 million cars sold, behind GM, Volkswagen and the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance.

The shareholders of FCA and PSA gave the green light to the merger with 99.1% of the votes.

The transaction will be completed on January 16th.

On January 18 the title will be listed in Milan and Paris, Tuesday 19 in New York.


    The new group will retain all 15 current brands of the two companies.

It will have 400,000 employees and over 180 billion euros in turnover.

"Stellantis represents the union of two partners who share the same mentality. Two realities that come together to build something unique. We want to have a leading role in the next decade that will redefine mobility. It is another courageous step forward in our journey", he stressed. President John Elkann.

"We are fully aware that we will be stronger together than separately": said Psa number one, Carlos Tavares.

"Both Governments will pay attention to Stellant's contribution to industrial employment in Italy and France", comment ministers Stefano Patuanelli and Bruno Le Maire.


    For the Italian trade unions, it is an opportunity but we will have to watch over employment in Italy.
