Johannes Volkmann is probably unknown to most people in Germany - in contrast to his grandfather.

Volkmann is the grandson of the former Chancellor Helmut Kohl and has now had his first major television appearance: as a candidate in the quiz program "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?"

In the episode of the show broadcast on Monday, Volkmann answered the 64,000 euro question correctly.

Moderator Günther Jauch wanted to know which celebrity daughter had the first name Olympia.

It's the tennis player Serena Williams.

There was also time between questions to talk about politics.

When the moderator asked Jauch if he wanted to become a politician, Volkmann said: "At the age of 23 I find it difficult to say: I will become a politician and do this for the next 50 years." But he finds politics exciting and has "Certainly something was born there".

Volkmann is the son of Christine K. Volkmann and Walter Kohl.

He works in the European Parliament for the CDU member Sven Simon from Hesse.

A new car as a wish

As a result, on Monday, Volkmann got off to a bumpy start.

All jokers were used up at 8,000 euros.

But after that it went well - among other things because, according to RTL, he happened to know from his corona disease in March 2020 that the so-called titer determination had something to do with vaccinations.

At the beginning of February, Volkmann can try his hand at the 125,000 euro question.

In the meantime, RTL shows several special episodes of the program in which Volkmann did not participate.

From the possible profit he wants to buy a new car, he said on the program.

But then he shouldn't be too willing to take risks: If he answered incorrectly, he would drop to 500 euros.
