Bolzano in South Tyrol: rubble avalanche hits hotel

A rockfall buried parts of a hotel in South Tyrol.

The accommodation in the city of Bolzano was closed and did not accommodate any guests when the boulders hit the house, the police said.

As can be seen in the pictures, the rock broke off a rock wall and destroyed part of the hotel complex.

In the afternoon, the emergency services were busy securing the scene of the accident and investigating the damage.

In northeastern Italy, snow and storms are currently causing hundreds of fire services.

With heavy equipment, the rescue workers cleared many streets of snow masses in the regions of Veneto and Friuli-Venezia Giulia.
