Despite Corona's peak morbidity among Arab residents of East Jerusalem, few are vaccinated against the virus.

The average rate of positive tests in the eastern neighborhoods of the city currently stands at about 15% - twice the rate of positive tests in the national population.

Despite this, only about 22% of those aged 60 and over among these residents came to receive vaccines, compared with 70% of the corresponding age population in the Jewish public in Jerusalem.

Moreover, many Jews, aged 60 and under, come to the large vaccination center that opened in the Clalit Health Fund buildings in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, near the seam line in Jerusalem.

These find it difficult to make an appointment for vaccination at the vaccination points in the Jewish neighborhoods, whether due to overcrowding or due to their young age, and choose to get vaccinated in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood.

For now, the propaganda efforts of Clalit and the Jerusalem Municipality, which call on the Arab population in East Jerusalem to come vaccinated, are not bearing fruit.

The municipality is considering opening two more vaccine centers in the north and south of the city, apparently - immunization vehicles, which will be moved within the Arab neighborhoods and will encourage the population to be vaccinated.

A report released yesterday by the Intelligence and Terrorism Information Center, which tracks corona data in Gaza, Judea and Samaria and East Jerusalem, states that according to Palestinian Authority data, 1,708 new patients have been identified in East Jerusalem in the past two weeks. In the center, the Corona peaks in the east of the city are the Kfar Akev neighborhoods with 22.2% positive tests, Beit Hanina - 18.3% positive tests, Shuafat - 17.6% positive tests and Abu Tor - 16% positive tests.

In contrast, the rate of positive tests in the Tzur Ba'ar and Silwan neighborhoods is closer to the national positive rate.

The death toll in East Jerusalem from Corona since the plague began - 150.

Last Friday, for the first time in a long time, the police made sure to include only a population living near the mountain for prayers on the Temple Mount, and about 3,500 people were present.

Police have been in contact with the Waqf and Jordan on the matter, and have reached quiet understandings on the matter.
