Only a month old and already a beard: monkeys were born in the Schönbrunn Zoo in Vienna, more precisely: imperial mustache tamarins.
“The hallmark of this marmoset species is its long, white mustache, which both males and females wear.
Even in the three tiny ones, the beard is already clearly visible, «said zoo director Stephan Hering-Hagenbeck.
For the parents Tamaya and Purple it is the first offspring.
As is customary with this type of monkey, the father usually takes care of the triplets.
According to the zoo, the zoo keepers have not yet been able to tell whether they are females or males.
The imperial mustache tamarins are actually native to the rainforests of South America.
