This Wednesday evening, Public Health France announced 25,379 new coronavirus contaminations recorded in the last 24 hours, against 20,489 Tuesday and 26,457 just a week ago, on December 30.
The positivity rate, which measures the percentage of people positive for Covid-19 out of all those tested, remains unchanged at 5.4%, as on Tuesday.
2616 patients in intensive care
The number of people hospitalized with a novel coronavirus infection continues to plateau, with fluctuating trends in recent days.
On Wednesday, the health authorities counted a total of 24,741 patients treated in French establishments.
They were 24,871 Tuesday and 24,962 Monday.
In the last 24 hours, Santé Publique France has announced 1433 new admissions.
Of this total of hospitalizations, 2,616 patients developed a severe form of the disease requiring treatment in intensive care units, against 2,616 Tuesday, 2,657 Monday and 2,665 Sunday.
The trend is therefore stable for the moment.
In terms of mortality, the authorities today deplore 291 deaths recorded in the last 24 hours.
346 deaths were recorded on Tuesday and 380 on Monday.
Bringing the total number of people who died in hospital to 46,263.
