(ANSA) - RABAT, 06 JAN - Persistent rains have flooded a large part of the city of Casablanca, causing considerable damage to the infrastructure system, to the transport network as well as to private citizens.
Over 33 millimeters of water fell on the Moroccan metropolis from late Tuesday afternoon until this morning, reaching 53 millimeters in some points of the suburbs.
Protests are unleashed on the Internet, especially against the city union, Abdelaziz El Omari, called to explain the disaster. The tram network has collapsed; houses flooded and dragged by the current, even in the city center. The internet surfers did not lose heart, however, and photomontages appeared on social networks that overlap the news images with those of the film 'Titanic'. Under the hashtag #wecasablanca the city stadium is transformed into a swimming pool. (HANDLE).
