Wendler is no longer on "Deutschland sucht den Superstar": RTL announced on Wednesday afternoon that all Michael Wendler appearances would be cut from the already wacky episodes of "DSDS".
First the media magazine DWDL reported on it.
The pop singer, who acts as a juror on the show, caused massive outrage on Tuesday when it became known that he had suggested on his channel in the news app Telegram that the federal government's newly announced corona measures would be conditions like concentration camps create.
Wendler had previously been noticed by unfounded allegations about the pandemic and had meanwhile left Germany.
RTL broke with him, but announced that they wanted to show the episodes of "DSDS" that had already been recorded with him.
The broadcaster pointed out that everything else would be technically too complex and that the jury's decision-making processes would not be accessible without Wendler's participation.
After the massive outrage that Wendler's statement triggered since it became known on social media and beyond, the U-turn now follows.
In a press release by the station it says: "With yesterday's new statements it is clear: RTL will completely cut Michael Wendler out of the program, even if there are dramaturgical gaps that are visible to viewers." In times when it is a matter of dealing with a serious crisis together through social cohesion, mutual consideration and respect, RTL will not be the stage with an entertainment show for people who in turn propagate division and trivialization.
