With his distinctive face he shaped the previous evening series »Forbidden Love«.
And not just through a single role.
In the ARD production, Thomas Gumpert embodied several characters over the decades.
Since 1995 he had appeared in seven different parts in the series.
The longest - from 2003 to 2008 - he portrayed Count Johannes von Lahnstein.
At the beginning of his career, Gumpert, who was born in Lauchhammer, Brandenburg, was seen in small roles in major DEFA films.
In 1974 he worked in the Thomas Mann film »Lotte in Weimar« and in 1989 in the gay drama »Coming out«.
Gumpert later played in a number of television series;
for example in “Wolffs Revier”, “The Clever ones”, “The Rosenheim Cops” or “Alisa - Follow Your Heart”.
As his agency announced, Thomas Gumpert died on Thursday after a brief serious illness.
He was 68 years old.
