(In the video: The most expensive passport in the world)

In a world where our future vacations are a lot of fog (including the one we knew this week in Israel), there are those who already see the light of spring and summer, and published the strongest passport index in the world. .

So in 2021 that has just begun, the

Japanese

passport

is the strongest in the world for the fourth year in a row, according to the new ranking of the Henley Passport Index published every year and based on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA). This year ranking does not take into account limitations Temporary travel that may have been created by the Corona virus epidemic. If

, citizens of the Land of the Rising Sun can visit 191 countries around the world without the need for visas. The

Singapore

passport

was ranked second, just like in 2020, and its holders could enter 190 countries without the need for such bureaucracy In third place is the

German

passport and the

South Korean

passport

, which do not require a visa to 189 countries.

European passports rule

In fourth place in common are the passports of Finland, Italy, Luxembourg and Spain (the last two rose from fifth place), which enter 188 countries.

They are followed by the Austrian passport, which rises from seventh place, and the Danish passport, both in fifth place with entry to 186 countries.

Sixth place is taken by the French, Irish, Dutch, Portuguese and Swedish passports, with their passport holders enjoying visa-free access to 186 countries.

The seventh place is shared by the British, American, Belgian, New Zealand, Norwegian and Swiss passports.

Despite the Brexit, the British passport rose from eighth place in early 2020 to seventh place in the year.

The rest of the top ten consists of the Australian, Czech, Greek and Maltese passports in eighth place, the Canadian passport in ninth place and the Hungarian passport in tenth.

The Israeli passport

was ranked 23rd, an increase of two places from Henley's ranking last year and we can enter it with 161 countries without the need for a visa.

A sharp jump to the UAE passport

The Henley Passport Index indicates that Asian countries in the Pacific seem to dominate the top of its rankings in 2021 - and according to the passport rankers' explanation, this is a relatively new phenomenon.

“During the ranking over the last 16 years, the strong passports have traditionally been from countries in the EU, UK or US, and experts suggest that the Asia-Pacific region’s position of power will continue, as it houses some of the first countries to succeed in the epidemic recovery process.

In the last seven years the US passport has fallen from first place to seventh place, a place it now shares with the UK.

In our new friend, the

United Arab Emirates

, the passport was ranked 16th, which puts its holders in 173 countries around the world, including Israel of course.

According to Henley, "The United Arab Emirates continues its remarkable path in the passport index, having signed several reciprocal visa waiver agreements last year, including a US-mediated landmark agreement that maintains official ties with Israel and granting entry to the other country without the need for a visa."

However, we know this is not the case, and major problems have been discovered in the entry of Israelis into Dubai and Abu Dhabi over the past month and the need for a visa has been reimbursed and handled today by the airlines, until otherwise decided.

For comparison, with the start of the ranking in 2006, the United Arab Emirates was ranked 62nd and its citizens could enter without a visa in only 35 countries.

At the bottom of the table, the least powerful passport in the world is issued by

Afghanistan

(again), and its citizens have visa-free access to only 26 countries.

The

Palestinian

passport

, by the way, is ranked almost at the end - in 105th place and enters only 35 countries.
