The English variant of Covid-19 continues to grow in France while two clusters were identified on Thursday, in Brittany and Île-de-France.
Thus, during a press conference, Prime Minister Jean Castex said that the border with the United Kingdom would remain closed "until further notice".
"Only certain categories of people" will be able to cross it, provided they are tested before entering France, the head of government announced.
"Increased surveillance in schools"
The Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, for his part clarified on the basis of studies carried out across the Channel that the English variant was more contagious, especially in children, but did not cause more serious forms of Covid-19 in these latter.
"This Thursday and tomorrow, all questionable PCR tests will be analyzed on our platforms" in order to detect the case of variants, the minister said.
