2021-01-08T18:35:02.086Z

These are Calabria, Sicily, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy and Veneto. According to the draft of the ISS monitoring, 12 regions are at risk. More stringent measures needed to avoid out of control epidemic. In the period 15-28 December 2020, the average transmissibility index Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.03 (range 0.98 - 1.13) (ANSA)

There are 17,533

coronavirus positive swabs

in the last 24 hours in Italy, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The victims are 620.

140,267 swabs were carried out in Italy in the last 24 hours.

Yesterday the tests were 121,275 (about 19,000 fewer).

The positivity rate is 12.5%, down 2.3%

from yesterday's 14.8%.

The patients in intensive care

for Covid-19 in the last 24 hours in Italy

are unchanged

, in the daily balance between entries and exits.

In total, 2,587 people are hospitalized in intensive care.

Daily admissions are 187. The number of people admitted to ordinary wards instead increased by 22 units, bringing the total to 23,313.

In Italy, meanwhile, the contagion curve "slowed down the decrease

and went against the trend this week", said the president of the Higher Institute of Health Silvio Brusaferro at the press conference on the analysis of the data of the Regional Monitoring of the Control Room.

"There is an increase in the speed of growth of cases - he noted - as indicated by

the Rt index which is above 1 in many regions

".

"In almost all regions the trend of cases is growing" and "

there are overloads for care services

with a high impact risk classification in many regions".

"We are at 166 cases per 100 thousand inhabitants in 7 days in terms of incidence and there is great variability between regions, with Veneto maintaining a high incidence, but all regions have a higher incidence in order to pass from a mitigation phase to a control phase with individual tracking ".

Brusaferro underlined the need to pay at this point "maximum attention in the measures to be adopted" and "respectful behavior to avoid regrowth".

THE PRESS CONFERENCE

"With the new year - said Brusaferro - we begin a phase that has 2 tracks: the positive one of vaccination and that of the circulation of the virus that will continue and for which we will have to adopt restriction measures. It is now a question of modulating the measures according to the risk for to ensure that this re-start of cases can be mitigated ".

"I believe that the work done by the prefects on timetables and upgrading means of transport is a precious work and therefore the reopening of schools must be done taking into account these plans but also to be analyzed with great attention according to the progress of the epidemic and the incidence".

Meanwhile, the Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health Gianni Rezza

spoke about the aspect of vaccines

In the meantime,

the regions of Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Sicily and Veneto

pass into

the orange area

.

The Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, on the basis of the data and indications of the Control Room, has signed a new ordinance which will go into effect from Sunday 10 January until Friday 15 January, the date on which the DPCM will expire.

"I signed a new ordinance - the minister said - which brings the regions of Calabria, Emilia Romagna, Lombardy, Sicily and Veneto to the orange zone.

We must keep the highest level of attention because the virus circulates a lot and the contagion index is growing

".

THE DRAFT OF THE ISS MONITORING

.

In the period 15-28 December 2020, the mean transmissibility index Rt calculated on symptomatic cases was equal to 1.03 (range 0.98 - 1.13), increasing for four weeks and for the first time, after six weeks, over one.

This was revealed by the draft of the weekly monitoring by the Ministry of Health-Higher Institute of Health (Iss).

The epidemic is "in a delicate phase

that seems to herald a new rapid increase in the number of cases in the coming weeks, if

more stringent mitigation measures are not

rigorously defined and implemented

".

This was revealed by the draft of the weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.

There are 12 Regions / PPAAs at high risk this week (none the previous week), 8 at moderate risk

(of which two at high risk of progression to high risk in the next few weeks) and only one Region (Tuscany) at low risk.

This is highlighted by the draft of weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.

Three Regions / PPAA (Calabria, Emilia-Romagna and Lombardy) have a punctual Rt greater than 1 even in the lower value,

therefore compatible with a type 2 scenario;

another 6 (Liguria, Molise, Sardinia, Sicily, Umbria, V. d'Aosta / V. / d'Aoste) exceed it in the average value, and another four reach it (Puglia) or touch it (Lazio, Piedmont and Veneto) .

The data emerges from the weekly monitoring of the Iss-Ministry of Health.

There are 13 Regions / PPAAs that have an employment rate in intensive care and / or medical areas above the critical threshold (vs 10 the previous week).

The employment rate in intensive care at the national level returns to being above the critical threshold (30%).

This is highlighted by the draft of the weekly monitoring Iss-ministry of health.

After a few weeks of decrease, an increase in the incidence at national level is observed again in the last 14 days (313.28 per 100,000 inhabitants 21/12 / 2020-03 / 01/2021 vs 305.47 per 100,000 inhabitants 14/12 / 2020 - 12/27/2020).

In particular, the persistent high value of this indicator in the Veneto Region is highlighted (927.36 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last 14 days).

This was revealed by the draft of the weekly monitoring Iss-Ministry of Health.
