Vaccination against Covid-19 should be extended now to all employees of retirement homes but also to families of residents, so that nursing homes can resume "
a normal life
", pleaded Friday Synerpa, union of private establishments.

The strong request that I make is to extend the vaccination in nursing homes to all employees, to offer it to all families who come regularly, outside workers, facilitators, liberals who intervene
" in these establishments, Florence Arnaiz-Maumé, Synerpa's general delegate, told AFP.

We have the doses.
We have the engineering that allows us to do 100 to 150 injections in three days, and we only do 50, because we only do residents and employees over 50 or with co-morbidities.
If the process needs to be speeded up, we can do it,
”continued Ms. Arnaiz-Maumé.

This would protect the ecosystem of the nursing home.
If we manage to ensure that this entire population is vaccinated, up to about 60%, we will make the nursing home almost invincible.
And we can finally consider that the nursing home resumes a normal life
”, further explained this manager.
Objective of 1 million residents and staff
The government has set itself the goal of vaccinating around 1 million residents and nursing home staff during January and February, but the very slow start of this first phase has earned it heavy criticism for a week.
The first phase of the campaign has already been extended to all health professionals aged at least 50 or presenting risk factors, to which have been added firefighters and home helpers over 50.
For the time being, some 45,000 people have been vaccinated in France over the past five days, Prime Minister Jean Castex said Thursday.
