(ANSA) - BRUSSELS, JAN 08 - The "South African variant" of the coronavirus has also been detected in the Netherlands, in a person in the region of central and western Brabant.
The person was tested on December 22, and yesterday it was discovered that it would be the new version of the virus. He refers to the Dutch National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (Rivm), according to the PNA agency.
It is not known whether this person has recently visited South Africa. The "British variant" has already been found in about a dozen people in the Netherlands. Both versions appear to be more contagious than the other variants. (HANDLE).
