Shopping in times of Corona - is that even possible?
The government accommodates retailers by ordering and collecting them from the store - under strict conditions
Tightening of the corona measures leads to resentment among dealers.
Federal states find different regulations.
Bavaria allows "Click and Collect".
Munich - On January 5th, 2020, the federal and state governments agreed in a joint paper to
extend the lockdown
until January 31, 2020 and
tighten the contact restrictions.
In view of the persistently high number of infections, the federal and state governments were forced to introduce a range of motion of 15 kilometers.
People who live in a corona hotspot with an
incidence greater than 200
are therefore not allowed to move further than
15 kilometers
“without good reason”
away from their place of residence.
However, the states disagree on the implementation of this measure: While the Bavarian cabinet implemented the resolutions one-to-one in a special meeting, Baden-Württemberg does not want to decide until later whether it will limit people's range of motion in counties with high numbers of corona infections .
"We are not currently planning that,"
said Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann.
Corona measures: Extension and tightening are causing displeasure among retailers
The extension of the measures is causing criticism, especially among retailers.
The
Bavarian Trade Association
spoke of a
"cry for help"
that shows the anger and despair of countless retailers who were fighting for their existence.
While the hospitality industry is getting 75 percent of lost sales through November aid, politicians let retailers
starve to death on the outstretched arm
, says managing director Bernd Ohlmann.
"So far, there has only been hot air." Federal Health Minister Jens Spahn (CDU) assured in September that "no more retail outlets will be closed."
That won't happen again. ”With confidence, textile, shoe and sports retailers would have ordered winter goods for hundreds of millions of euros, said Ohlmann.
The German retail sector is now
addressing the government directly
with a
public letter
.
The letter stated that the closure was "facing the acute loss of its existence".
The fire letter was signed by the German Trade Association (HDE) and the individual regional and federal specialist associations.
The Bavarian cabinet is now offering the dealers a solution.
"Click and Collect" allowed in Bavaria from January 11th, 2021
Shops are allowed to resell from 01/11/21 subject to conditions.
With
“Click and Collect”
, products can be ordered from retailers over the Internet and then picked up at the branch.
The same concept also applies to
"Call and Collect"
offers, with the difference that the order is placed over the phone.
The Bavarian cabinet tied conditions to the offer:
FFP2 masks
are just as compulsory as
staggering collections
in order to avoid long queues.
The aim of the measure is
to strengthen trade
without worsening the infection rate.
It remains to be seen whether the offer will also be accepted by smaller shops.
Since they often live from service and browsing on site, it is
difficult to estimate
their
profitability
under the conditions.
Shopping during Corona: Customers have to pay attention to this
In Bavaria,
15 cities and districts
were reported
on January 7th, 2021
that were above the critical level of 200 new corona infections per 100,000 inhabitants in 7 days.
In these corona hotspots, tightened measures apply, such as the
restricted range of motion
.
Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters) made it clear, however, that the radius only applies if there is no “valid reason”.
In Bavaria, however, shopping is still a
“good reason”
to leave the
radius of
movement.
So far, customers have only been able to shop in stores that offer products for everyday use.
These include drugstores, supermarkets and pharmacies.
That will change from January 11th, 2021: Then customers can fall back on the pick-up offers of the dealers.
