Anyone who gets their hands on a 20 euro note this year might be astonished for a moment.
From now on, it will be different by default for the banknote.
As of this year,
there will be
a small change
in the
20-euro note *
that will be noticeable: The banknotes will then feel
smoother
because the
twenties are
now also
coated
with a
special
paint as
standard
to make the banknotes more durable.
This was reported by the German Press Agency (dpa) on Sunday (December 27, 2020).
"From 2021
only coated 20-euro banknotes will be
produced, so that uncoated 20-euro banknotes will gradually disappear from the cash cycle," said Bundesbank board member Johannes Beermann in Frankfurt, according to dpa.

The 20-euro note will also be painted as standard in the future.

second series of euro banknotes, which

, however, twenties with paintwork would be produced for the first time in 2021 and put into circulation in the course of the year.
So it could be a while before
consumers in Germany
actually hold

varnished 20 euro banknote
in their hands.
