Royal detachment:

A year ago the prince and his wife stunned the kingdom and caused a severe rift with their family when they decided to stop taking an active part in the royal house and develop an independent career.

Yesterday it was reported in the British media that the two have decided that they are turning their backs on social networks such as Facebook and Twitter and will stop using them.

Indeed their joint personal user "Sussexroyal" has not uploaded a post since March 2020, and probably will no longer be the way we update the world on their current situation.

The two have already gained millions of followers on Instagram as part of their semi-independent status, and according to the Sunday Times told their associates that they dislike the continued use of these platforms as part of their desire to advance a progressive agenda and in the face of the "hate speech" they encounter.

As you may recall, the princess has repeatedly spoken out about the online bullying directed at her, in part in light of the claim that she is the one who caused the rift between Princes Harry and William.

"I was told I was the person with the most harassment on the net in 2019," she said in a recent interview.

A source close to the two told the Sunday Times that the new fund they set up to promote various initiatives, the Archwell Foundation, is not expected to have accounts on the various social networks and that it is "very unlikely" that they will use the social networks through personal accounts.

Remember, as part of the arrangement they made with Queen Elizabeth, the dukes will retain their royal titles, but will not use them unless they are in an official representation.

They are also allowed to operate in a way that will yield them financial gains, and indeed recently signed content creation agreements with Netflix and Spotify.

However, it still seems that their family is angry with them, partly in light of their desire to express themselves on various issues at stake, contrary to the long tradition of maintaining the apolitical status of the monarchy.
