(ANSA) - BERLIN, 10 JAN - In Germany, the number of deaths for Covid has exceeded the threshold of 40,000 and, as predicted by Chancellor Angela Merkel, the next few weeks will be "the hardest phase of the pandemic". To provide the data of the situation is the Robert Koch Institute: in the last 24 hours the victims are 465 bringing the total to 40,343. On the other hand, there were around 17,000 new day counters.


    In the weekly video message on Saturday, the chancellor pointed out that the full impact of intensifying social contacts during the Christmas and New Year period is still not visible in the statistics. (HANDLE).
