Documents obtained by "Israel Today" and signed by the volunteers for the biological institute's experiment, reveal further details about the experiment and its meanings.

Phase 2 of the experiment will last for many months and the volunteers will receive thousands of shekels for participating in it.

First, in terms of duration, Phase 2 of the clinical trials, which the institute will begin in the coming month, should last between 12 and 14 months.

Experts we spoke to explain that the Biological Institute will probably seek to summarize the critical phase of the experiment within a few months.

That is, Phase 3 trials, the important phase in which the vaccine was tested on tens of thousands of experimenters and in which its effectiveness in preventing corona is first tested, will begin over the coming summer.

As I published before, the very fact that Phase 3 will begin when the population in Israel is largely vaccinated, will create a problem to perform the experiment in Israel and the Biological Institute will have to do it abroad, in a country where the population has not yet been vaccinated.

Second, as Israel's vaccination campaign is advancing by leaps and bounds, the Biological Institute's experiment may run into difficulties.

After all, experimenters who are invited to receive the Pfizer or Modern vaccine, whose efficacy has already been proven, may regret participating in the trial.

Finally, according to the contract between the study participants and the Biological Institute, those who received the placebo could be vaccinated with another vaccine in Israel.

This means a possible impairment in the effectiveness of the experiment, because if a large group of placebo experimenters seek to be vaccinated with another vaccine, it will be difficult to test the effectiveness of the Biological Institute vaccine, without comparison to a control group.

Another interesting thing about the contract is the payment.

The participants in the experiment will receive a handsome sum for participating in the experiment, upon receipt of a payment of NIS 495 per visit, while in some groups it will be possible to receive "up to a total of NIS 6,435 for 13 visits".

The response of the Biological Institute: "The second phase of the Biological Institute's vaccination is in progress and is being carried out simultaneously in eight medical centers throughout the country. In general, each volunteer in an experiment is subject to monitoring and control for 14-12 months.

"Experimenters will wait"

However, in view of the special state of emergency, with the approval of the expert committees accompanying the experiment it is possible to proceed to the next phase even before the current phase has ended.

The timing and location of the third phase in the Biological Institute experiment is under discussion.

It should be emphasized that the Biological Institute's vaccine is intended to ensure Israel full independence in the development and production of vaccines, regardless of foreign factors.

Each volunteer is required to pass about 12 reviews during the study period and is reimbursed for his participation.

The reimbursement of expenses is approved by the ethics committees and the Ministry of Health and is calculated according to a full working day of a volunteer (depending on the average wage in the economy) plus travel, parking and meals expenses for each visit. "

"According to the consent form, any participant who wishes to check whether he is in the placebo group will be allowed to do so and request to receive the approved vaccine if he is interested. Participants will be asked to wait until the approved vaccine is collected. And will be updated accordingly, in order to ensure the ability to draw conclusions about the safety and efficacy of the vaccine. "
