Interview of the Pontiff on Tg5: 'At this moment the entire executive class does not have the right to say' I '. We must say 'We' and seek unity in the face of the crisis' (ANSA)

"The

management class has the right to have different points of view and also to have the political struggle

. It is a right: the right to impose its own politics.

But in this time we must play for unity, always

".

This was stated by

Pope Francis in the interview with Tg5 aired in the evening on Canale 5

.

"In this time there is no right to move away from unity - he explains -. For example, political struggle is a noble thing, parties are the tools. What matters is the intention to make the country grow. But if politicians emphasize more self-interest in the common interest, they ruin things. "

"At this moment the entire management class does not have the right to say 'I'. We must say 'We' and seek unity in the face of the crisis - the Pope reiterates, answering the questions of the Vatican expert of Mediaset Fabio Marchese Ragona -. The crisis has passed. everyone goes back to saying 'I', but in this moment, a politician, even a manager, a bishop, a priest, who does not have the ability to say 'we' is not up to par. 'We' must prevail. common good of all. Unity is superior to conflict ".

According to Francis, "conflicts are necessary, but at this moment they have to take vacations. We must emphasize the unity of the country, the church and society. Whoever says that 'in this way the elections can be lost' I say that it is not the moment, this is the moment of harvest. 'The grapes are harvested in autumn', this is the moment of peace and not crisis, we must sow the common good ".

"I tell all the leaders - pastoral, political, entrepreneurial - to erase the word 'I' for a while and say the word 'we'. You lose an opportunity: history will give you another. your negotiation, your shop on the skin of the brothers and sisters who are suffering from the crisis. In the face of the crisis, all together, 'we', cancel the 'I', for the moment ", he adds.

"Where can we start again? I start from a certainty.

The pandemic was a crisis that lasted a year and continues today

. But a crisis never comes out as before, or it comes out better or worse. This is the problem: how to get out better and not worse? What awaits us in the future? It is our decision ", Pope Francis later said in an exclusive interview with Tg5.

"If we want to come out better we will have to take a path, if we want to resume the same things as before, the path will be another path, and it will be negative. And in addition to the pandemic there will be one more defeat: that of not having come out better", he explains the Pope replying to the Vatican expert of Mediaset Fabio Marchese Ragona.

"We have to make a very strong analysis of the ugly situations that are experienced in the world today - he continues -. Think of the children without school and who suffer from hunger. There are the statistics of the United Nations that are frightening. Think of the children who were born with war, they have been living in war for ten years and they don't know what the smell of peace is. Let's just think of children in general: the statistics are terrible ".

According to the Pope, "a question we should all ask ourselves is this: what can we do to be able to go to school and to get all the children to eat? Another problem concerns wars because there is already the third world war , it does not involve the whole world but there are wars. And so we should ask ourselves what the path to peace is. It is a serious problem to be taken very seriously and if we want to get out of this situation without seeing these things then the exit will be worse ".

"We have to get out of it considering concrete things, no fantasy: what can we do to change this situation? The statistics say that by removing a month of war expenses we could feed all of humanity for a year. We must become aware of this drama of the world, it's not all a party - adds Francesco -. To get out of this crisis with our heads held high and in a better way we must be realistic. We need realism ".
