Following his resignation last night (Saturday) from his position as chairman of the Association of Public Health Physicians, Prof. Hagai Levin announced this morning a membership in the Telam party headed by Moshe Ya'alon.
"I believe in the proven leadership of former chief of staff Ya'alon and the excellent team of TLAM," he tweeted.
Prof. Levin also wrote: "TLM represents and works for the goals and values that I strive for: statehood while placing the public interest above all and concern for the welfare of the general public in Israel in all areas of life.

In another tweet, Levin tweeted: "The public expects ministers and MKs to work for us responsibly, honestly, based on the recommendations of professionals.
During the Corona crisis, we realized that this is not the current situation in the State of Israel - and the result is tragic.
I joined TLM in order to be the change I want to see in the world, and in order to integrate into the national leadership and protect public health and the environment. "
As reported yesterday, Prof. Levin has resigned from his position and from the Cabinet of Experts advising the Corona Commissioner.
In the letter of resignation, he stated that "in view of the size of the hour and the need to heal Israel and the serious threats to public health during this period, and in view of the political and value depression - I feel a deep commitment to examine the way I can influence the public in Israel."
Levin argued that the measures taken to deal with the crisis were arbitrary and illogical and raised concerns about personal considerations of the political echelon.
He further noted that the government refused to take measures to reduce the increase in morbidity, such as the treatment of those entering Ben Gurion Airport, and preferred a full closure with devastating consequences and disconnection from the public.
Instead of a totalitarian-police approach, there should have been genuine cooperation and transparency with the public, while creating trust, solidarity and intrinsic motivation to adhere to prudent health behavior during the Corona period while exercising discretion and risk management, personal, community and national.

"Instead, the government chose to act with forceful, disproportionate and unbalanced measures. Alongside logical and accepted guidelines, arbitrary, inconsistent and internal logic were occasionally given, which were selectively enforced on different populations.
