The British Prince Harry and his wife Meghan, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, apparently want to withdraw from social media platforms such as Twitter and Facebook.
This is reported by the British daily newspaper "The Sunday Times", citing a person close to the couple.
According to the couple have "no plans" to use social networks for the work of their newly established "Archewell" foundation.
In addition, it is "very unlikely" that Harry and Meghan will return there in person.
Your official Instagram account »sussexroyal« is currently subscribed to by more than ten million people - although nothing has happened there for many months.
The last post was published by Harry and Meghan last March, shortly before their official retirement from the front row of the British royal family.
Then they closed the account.
Disillusioned with hatred
And that's obviously how it should stay.
According to the Sunday Times report, the couple were disaffected by the hatred they were seeing on social media.
In addition, the newspaper points out that Meghan has already reported publicly about her "almost insurmountable" experience with online trolls.
Prince Harry had also attacked social networks in the past.
In an opinion piece for the US business magazine "Fast Company" he wrote: "Social media divide us." Internet communities should define themselves "more through compassion than hatred";
Companies should use their advertising money where there is consistent action against hatred.
At the end of March of last year, Harry and Meghan had left their duties as part of the royal family.
From April on, they stopped using the title "Your Royal Highness" and no longer performed any official duties for the Royals.
They are no longer allowed to use the »Sussex Royal« brand, which they have been using since their wedding and under which their Instagram account ran.
After the withdrawal, Harry blamed the decision primarily on the pressure of the media on himself and his wife.
The small family now lives mainly in Meghan's homeland, California.
