"Ocean," Miri concludes

Last week, Miri Mesika was injured for a few seconds on the television screen in Eviatar Banai's home performance sketch in "Eretz Nehederet."

Mesika, in the role herself, comes out of the sketch from a performance in a private yard, covered in leftover pasta, and tells the builder that the world of culture must be opened.

The message was understood: Israeli artists are doing everything in their power to survive this period.

Mesika does not express these views only in sketches.

She reiterates her protest at the closure of the cultural world since the outbreak of the corona.

In her spare time, she recorded her seventh album, Ocean.

This is without a doubt the year the albums have returned to our lives.

It seems that more will be written in the pages of history about the period that brought out the best in their work from musicians all over the world.

It also happened to Miri Mesika.

The new album is full of collaborations with prominent contemporary names in Israeli music.

At the head of them is "Fresh Soup," an excellent song written for her by Dikla that describes the other woman's point of view ("Surely she is relaxed next to you, when you come in and come to terms with her, in the evening").

The connection with Elia Rossilio (who signed on to hits like "Two Crazy Men") in the song "Mother" manages to excite and tell the story of the writer's life, which was neglected as a child by drug-addicted parents.

The collaboration with Narkis in the song "Moshe" is also natural, and all in all these are two singers who seem to be meant to sing together.

"Messiah", a record moment on the album, was written by Rosilio to the tune of Harel Skaat and Eitan Darmon.

Even the connection with 13-year-old Mika Moshe, winner of third place in "School of Music", gives birth to a successful female empowerment song in the form of "You Have You".

Sometimes the connections work less, like in "Afraid of You," where she hooks up with rapper Izzy.

The hip hop section in the song just doesn’t fit Mesika’s huge ballad style.

Interestingly, it is the songs that Mesika wrote herself, such as "How Many" the opening and "Eve" (about the biblical character) that could have been given up.

Mesika is more of a great performer than a great writer, but she makes up for it by choosing writers and musical partners They compliment her. And a word about the good friend Keren Peles, whose name is not mentioned this time in the album's credits.

Mesika is not the type of singer who lacked attention even during this period of the corona. Here she is a judge at the "School of Music" ", Is photographed in the middle of magazine covers, and in general remains present all the time in Israeli culture.

This is not obvious in the local frenetic reality. Albums like" Ocean "give validity to this relevance of hers.
