"We may soon see the effects of the closure"

Corona's commissioner, Prof. Nachman Ash, held a press briefing this morning during which he said that "the first effect of the vaccines is noticeable after 10 days. We hope to see a decrease in the number of serious patients as early as next week."

He added: "This is the third day of the closure. We are in a race between the disease and the vaccine. We aim to vaccinate as many people as possible. We also saw an increase in morbidity over the weekend. 5,000 verified on Saturday - this is higher than other Saturdays. "But it seems to be starting to flatten out. However, the number of serious patients is higher than in the second wave."

"The closure is set for two weeks and will end next week between Thursday and Friday. These days we are thinking about what the goals will be for leaving the quarantine. The exit indices will include the number of patients, patients in critical condition and the R (infection coefficient).

Was the closure successful?

Asked the Corona Commissioner.

"It's too early to decide. We see different pictures and different testimonies. Some have experienced traffic jams and others have traveled on empty roads. We operate according to traffic indices from different companies, but they arrive a day or two late. Tomorrow we will get this information and know. "And people are responding to the instructions. I hope we see this in the data."

Prof. Ash added that "we will continue to vaccinate additional populations in the coming weeks," Prof. Ash stated.

"Our strategy: to vaccinate populations at risk - thus reducing mortality and morbidity and opening up the economy even if the rate of diagnoses does not decrease. At present it is determined to prioritize teachers in special education and then the entire teacher population. More age groups are added - 60-50 or 60-55. That depends on the number of servings. "

On the rate of vaccination, he said: "We have reached a vaccination capacity of 150,000 vaccinated per day. In a few days we will have to reach this capacity and on top of that add the first dose vaccinators. We want the daily number of vaccinated to reach 200,000."
