Of the explosion, Amor Ben Taiziri remembers only his bloody face, his unresponsive hand and the mutilated legs of Inès, his colleague.
Then he woke up two days later on a bed in the hospital.
On January 12, 2019, Amor was at work at the Ibis hotel on rue de Trévise, when a gigantic gas explosion blasted part of this district of Paris.
Seriously injured, he only survived death thanks to the presence of mind of a colleague who gave him a point of compression in his carotid artery.
Two years after that terrible day, the former receptionist knows that he will never recover 100% of the use of his arm.
Her left eye was replaced with a prosthesis.
Amor also suffers from dizziness.
He must be accompanied by someone for each gesture of his daily life: "I no longer have any dreams, murmurs this father of 3 children, no vacation and I cannot offer my children anything".
"I would prefer not to be there any more than to experience this" he asserts.
Since the explosion blew the rue de Trévise, the former hotel employee has not been able to resume his job.
He supports his family on 1,200 € per month.
“We, the hotel staff, have been forgotten,” he explains, adding that he still has not received compensation.
They fixed the hotel windows, but they forgot about us ”.
