300 artists invited to a festival that will never take place to help the Swiss cultural sector

Conceived as a solidarity operation, the fictitious event will be “held” on February 27 and 28. The sums raised by the sale of tickets for the Ghost festival will be paid to the musicians.

The Ghost festival is scheduled not to take place.

300 artists were invited not to perform.

The dates, February 27 and 28, and the various passes (daily, weekend, VIP) maintain the illusion of this support for more than 300 Swiss artists.

The ticket office opened on January 11, in order to donate the funds raised to the artists listed.

There will be no counterpart to this solidarity approach, if not an entrance bracelet for fictitious memories.

Paralyzed by health measures, the Swiss music scene is going through a period of extreme insecurity, which the income from streaming platforms - often the only remaining ones, in the absence of concerts - does not allow to reduce.

The 20, 50 and 100 francs of each ticket will be shared equally between the artists and music professionals listed.

At the initiative of the action, the Ghost Club, based in German-speaking Switzerland, brings together club bosses, associations and musicians.

Fans of Stephan Eicher, Black Sea Dahu, Slimka, Cyril Cyril or Alois will be able to contribute to their survival.

I know the case of artists receiving 900 francs per month from APG.

It's below the poverty line,

singer Billie Bird

told

Le Temps

, playing at the festival for which she is also the spokesperson.

Elodie Romain, her real name, reminds us that current music is the "

most precarious segment of the industry, where short and fixed-term contracts are linked together

".

She herself had to return to her old job, teaching, while waiting to set foot on stage again.

The Ghost festival gives visibility to forgotten artists, prevented from doing their job for almost a year.

The visual identity is expressed on the networks as in the streets, through posters plastered in fifteen Swiss cities.

T-shirts and sweaters bearing the image of the event will also be on sale.

Public funding and private sponsors - including Migros, a retail cooperative, and La Mobilière, an insurance company - were also requested to increase the final envelope.
