Ten years have passed since the referendum that split the workers of the factory symbol of Fiat. 'With Stellantis a new phase begins, the model is Marchionne outdated' (ANSA)

Ten years have passed since the referendum that split the workers of Mirafiori, the symbolic factory of Fiat on 13 January 2011, and opened a long season of conflicts with the company and between the unions.

Giorgio Airaudo, who was one of the protagonists of that clash and today is back at the helm of Fiom Piemonte, after his experience in Parliament with Sel, sees in Stellantis "the beginning of a new phase".

"The model imposed by Sergio Marchionne has been exceeded.

For the Stellantis union it is a great challenge ", he argues." The referendum involved 5,130 body shop workers and yes they won for a short time - 54% against 46% - with the casting vote of the employees.

In many cases, no.

In exchange for that agreement, which reduced breaks, changed shifts and limited the right to strike, Marchionne had promised full employment, higher wages and many models.

A scenario that did not materialize ".

    Things are different today.

"Marchionne - observes Airaudo - wanted to bring an American-type model of trade union relations to Italy, also because he wanted an agreement with GM. Things went differently. There will be a need for harmonization between the US model and the European model: trade union will have to jointly set this objective without the desire for revenge or income from positions ".
