Several tons of leaked, glowing steel led to a fire in a Krefeld foundry with nine injured.
On Tuesday evening, rescue workers were called to the machine and system manufacturer after an industrial accident had occurred there.
According to this, 10 to 15 tons of red-hot steel had flowed next to the mold during the casting.
The heat caused several fires.
Two employees on overhead cranes were seriously injured and were able to save themselves on the roof - there they were brought to safety by the fire brigade.
Five other employees suffered minor injuries as well as two firefighters.
The fire was extinguished after about two hours.
The amount of damage was initially unclear.
The police has started investigation.
