As coronavirus infections multiply or recede, depending on the time of year and social circumstances, public opinion also varies in the nuances, regarding prevention measures and immunization campaigns.
A new survey revealed that in recent months there was
a strong setback in the intention of Argentines to get vaccinated
.
And at the same time, in the face of the new rise in positive cases, more and more people are asking for
the barrier of restrictions to be increased
.
The study carried out by Poliarquía highlights the drop in the intention to apply the vaccine that was observed in recent months.
In January
only 38%
said they were willing to receive the "puncture", while at the end of July it
reached 65%
.
What happens now with the rest of the respondents?
El
31 ,
%
considered 'could get vaccinated ,
"a group remains relatively stable and expectantly at developments will know.
But
24%
declare that they will
certainly not be vaccinated
, a segment that had a sharp rise compared to the
10%
that was registered in July.

“The safety of applying the vaccine decreased because this decision is associated with higher levels of information and the central debate that occupied the subject for weeks.
While in August and July it was a hypothesis, which remained very distant, in December and especially in January, it is something concrete.
The doubts that were generated lowered the percentage
”, explains Alejandro Catterberg, director of Poliarquía.
With the start of the summer holidays, the cordon of distancing restrictions ended up being cut in many tourist spots and this led to restrictions for health purposes for night circulation.
In this sense, a notable change in trend is observed in some indicators.
The proportion of those who consider that it
is necessary to tighten
the restriction measures
rises to 47%
(it grows more than 20 points).
Those who indicate that they must be made more flexible are reduced to 24%.
In Argentina, the vaccination plan with Sputnik V has already begun. The survey carried out by Poliarquía found that in recent months the level of intention to immunize has dropped.

“While in December we were in the lower part of the downward curve, in recent weeks
the number of people who say they have contact with someone who had Covid
or that they had it themselves has increased.
As the number of infections is growing strongly, there is a social sector that is asking for the restoration of more severe measures ”, Catterberg warns.
In addition, almost three out of four Argentines (73%) consider that
the virus will continue to advance in the country
, increasing more than 30 points since the last measurement.
The level of
concern
about the coronavirus rises to 81%, the
highest
record
since the beginning of September of last year.
To carry out this study, 1,718 inhabitants of urban centers throughout the country were contacted, through the telephone modality,
between January 5 and 7, 2021
.
The number of relatives or close acquaintances with coronavirus reaches
almost 7 out of 10 respondents
.
5 months ago that value was 25%.
In addition, 11% of those interviewed say they have contracted the virus.
Regarding vaccine brands,
Pzifer and Oxford-AstraZeneca
generate levels of confidence close to 60% -
Sputnik V
, meanwhile, obtains
39%
confidence, due to greater ideological distrust.
Changing postures
These results contrast with the 2020 global study by WIN International, in which 26,759 people participated at the end of December, with local input from Voices!
where it was highlighted that
76% of Argentines were determined to say yes to the vaccine
.
This percentage was higher than the global mean, where 7 out of 10 individuals (71% versus 76%) had said that they agreed to be immunized against this virus.
Meanwhile, at the beginning of November, the Opinaia consultancy had registered, based on 1,800 cases throughout the country, that 56% would apply the coronavirus vaccine.
At that time, 26% said they did not yet know if they would do it, while 17% indicated that they did not consider getting the vaccine.
