Life in the corona pandemic actually leads to an unhealthy lifestyle: As much time as possible at home and little exercise, this can also be noticeable on the scales.

And apparently it does too: According to an online survey last summer, almost a quarter of people in Germany said they had gained weight during the first Corona shutdown.

On the other hand, the body weight of left-wing politician Gregor Gysi developed quite differently - he lost around 14 kilograms according to his own statements.

He had lost a lot of weight, Gysi told the "Super Illu" according to a preliminary report.

"During the first lockdown in April, I started eating differently, only had breakfast and skipped lunch," said the politician.

"And in the evening there were as few carbohydrates as possible."

With the low-carb diet, he had "slimmed down from 78 kilos to 64/65 kilos and - most importantly - kept the weight successfully until now." his ideal weight.

Gysi celebrates her 73rd birthday at home alone

In addition, Gysi apparently increased his sports workload during the pandemic.

To stay fit, he is training on the exercise bike in his apartment during the Corona shutdown.

Gysi will be 73 years old on Saturday.

According to the information, he wants to celebrate his birthday alone at home, the usual celebration is canceled.

"But that's not so important," said the former leader of the Left.

"It is important that we overcome the pandemic quickly together."
