An online citizen consultation is launched this Wednesday on so-called “recreational” cannabis, the consumption, possession and sale of which are prohibited in France.
This consultation was initiated by the parliamentary information mission on the regulation and impact of the different uses of cannabis.
It takes the form of a five- or six-point questionnaire, posted on the website of the National Assembly for a period of approximately one month.
The mission is due to submit its report on “recreational” cannabis around the “end of March and early April”, according to its president, Essonne MP Robin Reda (LR).
“We want to publicize this issue.
The goal is to fuel the debate as much as possible.
The success of the investigation will depend on the participation of as many people as possible, ”adds the Essonnian elected official, hoping that the consultation will be“ sheltered from pressure groups ”in favor or against the decriminalization or legalization of cannabis.

After having looked into therapeutic cannabis and before the report on “recreational” cannabis, the mission must submit, by mid-February, its conclusions on so-called “well-being” cannabis (cannabidiol, or CBD) .
Its ban in France was ruled illegal on November 19 by the Court of Justice of the European Union.
This decision deprives the legal basis of many lawsuits in France and opens up new perspectives for the European and French hemp industry.
Authorized in 2019 by the National Assembly, experimentation with therapeutic cannabis (except for smoking) for at least 3,000 patients suffering from serious illnesses must begin no later than March 31 after being postponed due to the health crisis.
