(ANSA) - FLORENCE, 13 JAN - New video format on Facebook for the Uffizi Galleries: from 17 January, every week, chefs and personalities from the food and wine world will interpret a painting of the collections through their own recipes.

Thus, masterpieces of art history will also become dishes to taste at the table.

The new series is called 'Uffizi to eat'.

A well-known chef or character from the food and wine world will choose a work from the collections and, inspired by the ingredients depicted (fruit, vegetables, meat, fish), will propose recipes or cook dishes during the video itself.

The aim of the series is to illustrate and deepen the intimate bond that - above all through the genre of still life - has always linked the art of painting to that of gastronomy.

Among the 'protagonists' Fabio Picchi, patron of the Cibrèo of Florence who will confront the 'Boy with fish' by Giacomo Ceruti;

Dario Cecchini, butcher and restaurateur from Panzano in Chianti, who "will serve" his version of the 'Pantry with barrel, game, meat and pottery' by JacopoChimenti known as L'Empoli;

the starred chef Valeria Piccini, from the Da Caino restaurant in Montemerano (Grosseto) who will propose a recipe from a 'Still life' also from Empoli, and his associate, always starred, Marco Stabile, from L'ora d'Aria in Florence, who " will challenge "Giorgio De Chirico's 'Peppers and grapes'.

Among the other works that will later be interpreted by Caravaggio, Felice Casorati, Giovanna Garzoni.

"Our intent is to create an even closer link with the works of the museum, placing them in a current and vital context - explains the director of the Uffizi Eike Schmidt -. Painted and cooked food thus meet on a level of truth that stimulates the he attention of the observer brings to the fore the deep and unexpected meanings hidden in the scenes and still lifes created by painters ".
