(ANSA) - LONDON, 13 JAN - The surge in infections from Covidalimentata in the United Kingdom, in particular from the so-called English variant of the virus, now involves "a substantial risk" for British hospitals, in terms of a saturation of beds in intensive care. Boris Johnson said this in a parliamentary hearing in committee, although he added that he was not able to "predict" when this saturation could be reached. The premier insisted on the importance of the lockdown and acceleration of vaccines in this phase, while he expressed concern about a "new variant identified in Brazil" after the South African one.
