The total number of deaths due to the epidemic amounts to 69,313, including 48,284 in hospital, and this taking into account deaths in nursing homes, against 69,031 on Thursday.
Hospitals welcome 24,983 patients with the new coronavirus against 24,735 on Wednesday, including 1,691 people who arrived in 24 hours.
The intensive care unit, which takes care of the most serious cases, recorded 206 new admissions over 24 hours, for a total number of patients which stood at 2,716, against 2,701 on Wednesday.
This figure is up for the fifth day in a row.
Vaccination campaign: open to over 75s and vulnerable people
Since the start of vaccination in France on December 26, 2020, 318,216 people have been vaccinated among the priority groups defined by the health authorities.
The vaccination campaign is continuing and will open on January 18 to all people over 75 years of age as well as to vulnerable people at very high risk.
In addition, during this third week of vaccination, six serious undesirable effects with a favorable outcome were observed in France with the Comirnaty vaccine from Pfizer / BioNTech: 4 cases of allergic reactions and 2 cases of tachycardia.

The ANSM was also informed of the death of a person residing in a nursing home and vaccinated against Covid-19 on January 13 with the Comirnaty vaccine.
No immediate adverse effects were observed following vaccination.
The death occurred approximately two hours after the vaccination.
The patient did not show physical signs of allergic reactions.
In view of these elements, the medical history and the heavy treatment of the person, there is nothing to conclude that this death is related to the vaccination.
Around thirty cases of non-serious adverse reactions related to the Comirnaty vaccine have also been recorded in the national pharmacovigilance database.
