The provinces of Córdoba and Mendoza were severely affected in the last hours by a fierce storm of rain, wind and hail that left rivers overflowing, flooded streets, fallen trees, destroyed houses, evacuees and serious damage to production.

In Córdoba, it affected the central and northern areas of

the Punilla valley

, mainly towns such as Villa Giardino and Huerta Grande.

"The millimeter of rain

exceeded 140 millimeters

in some cases in a short time. Cosquín, Valle Hermoso, Giardino,

La Falda, La Cumbre

have had very important rains that have caused some streams and then rivers to greatly increase their flow. You have to be extremely careful, "said Diego Concha, head of Civil Defense for the Province.

In La Falda, the

Siete Cascadas

tourist complex

was seriously affected.

The local newspaper

La Voz del Interior

reported that Fernando Campana, head of the complex, lamented: "The issue is pretty screwed up, the sinks are full of mud, we have broken business, I see the refrigerators floating in the complex, we have tried to cut electricity. The water knocked over poles. "

For his part, the mayor of Villa Giardino, Omar Ferreyra, pointed out that the water was passing through the curbs and that "all the cars that were parked on the road were dragged onto

Route 38.

"

In addition, he reported four evacuees, detailed that about 100 millimeters fell in less than 70 minutes and warned: "Our topography is very important and all the water that discharges falls on Route 38 and

the town is a disaster

."

This Thursday, meanwhile, Mendoza received severe rains that affected several districts of the department of

San Rafael.

During the afternoon and night,

several localities were affected

by the intensity of the rainfall.

El Nihuil, Las Malvinas, Cañada Seca, Villa Atuel, Montecomán, La Llave and Goudge were some of them.

Anegations, roof breaks, falling trees and hail of a considerable size were some of the images that the neighbors replicated on the networks to show the phenomenon that had been alerted by the National Meteorological Service and that

lasted about 15 minutes with great intensity.

In addition, the fall of the power line caused hundreds of families to suffer power cuts in their homes.

Several rural areas were damaged by the violent advance of the storm and hundreds of crops.

There are farms that suffered great losses.

Jorge Pizarro

, director of Civil Defense of San Rafael, lamented: "We had a pretty sad day. We just lacked snow at this time because the storm was with stones, wind and finally water."

In dialogue with

, he also said that this Friday

the damage to the vineyards

was being evaluated

, mainly in the

Villa Atuel

district

, where "there were

losses of 100 percent

of the production of the vineyards and peaches."

Regarding the storm that has been affecting the area in recent days, he pointed out: "

For many years we have not suffered this inclement weather

. It is normal for there to be summer storms but not of this quality of stones that fell that was intense."

In relation to the

climate forecast

for the coming days, he pointed out that "the meteorological report is that the storms are going to calm down for four or five days but we hope they will be the last because they have left many people without work."

The Directorate of Contingencies forecast for this Friday a partially cloudy day with a slight drop in temperature and isolated storms during the night in the east, center and south of the province.

For its part, the local newspaper

San Rafael

reported that on Route 146 in front of the army barracks there were several fallen trees, which dragged a large part of the power lines and caused cuts.

It was also reported that the three aircraft of the Mitigation System operated throughout the afternoon and night on the cells that moved towards the cultivated areas of

San Rafael and General Alvear

.

Then two planes moved to the Northeast.

Meanwhile, the surface generators, located in the Uco Valley, were active for six hours.
