Covid, cases down 16,146 positive, 477 deaths. The positivity rate drops to 5.9%

2021-01-15T19:20:06.723Z

For the first time, rapid ones have also been included in the calculation of buffers. 273,506 tests carried out. "All measures must be taken to control the pandemic," says the president of the ISS. Veneto, Friuli Venezia Giulia and Bolzano have particularly high incidences. National Rt rises to 1.09, has been growing for 5 weeks. Rezza: 'Vaccines for over 80s by February. We are among the first in Europe when it comes to vaccinations' (ANSA)

There are

16,146 coronavirus positive swabs in the last 24 hours in Italy

, according to data from the Ministry of Health.

The victims are 477

.

Both figures are down from yesterday, when 522 victims and 17,246 new cases were recorded.

With the inclusion of antigen tests in the overall swab calculation - today for the first time in the new bulletin of the Ministry of Health - the incidence of positives collapses.

In all,

273,506 coronavirus swabs carried out in Italy in the last 24 hours

are reported

(156,647 molecular and 116,859 antigenic).

The positivity rate is 5.9%, down sharply from 10.7% yesterday,

when, however, the percentage of positives was calculated only on the molecular tests, which were 160,585.

If the incidence was calculated only on the molecular, the rate would now be stable at 10.3%.

ISS MONITORING:

"Europe is always in full pandemic and this means that

we must always be very careful to adopt all national and European measures to be able to control it.

Italy is in a phase of regrowth but of slight growth and thanks to the measures we are not faced with a surge in the curve ".

This was stated by ISS president Silvio Brusaferro at the press conference organized at the Ministry of Health on the analysis of data from the regional monitoring of the control room.

"There is a growth in almost all regions but in Veneto and in the autonomous province of Trento there is a decrease even if in Veneto the incidence remains high" specifies Brusaferro.

"There is no municipality in Italy that has not reported cases so

the virus circulates in all areas of the country"

said the president of the ISS. "Europe is always in full pandemic, he added,

there are areas of intense red color that move from week to week but remain persistent

", hence the need to" adopt

all measures at national and regional level first of all as far as we are concerned but also at European level to be able to control it

".

"The curve of the occupancy of beds in intensive care and the medical area has stopped a little, so we are still in a phase of stability".

The probability that the critical threshold can be exceeded, however, concerns many regions and it is advisable to intervene promptly.

This was stated by ISS president Silvio Brusaferro at the press conference organized at the Ministry of Health on the analysis of data from the regional monitoring of the control room.

"The situation indicates that the RT and incidence have increased but it must be recognized that

the limited increase in the incidence is the result of the efforts made in the last 15 days. There are regions such as Veneto and Friuli Venezia Giulia and PA Bolzano, which however have incidences particularly high

. We are therefore in a delicate phase in which they are required stringent mitigation measures to make sure that the curve will flatten more and more 'and then may also decrease in a season characterized by the influence. the said chairman ISS Silvio Brusaferro at the press conference on monitoring data.

"Today we can make a final balance: there is a limited increase in incidence and Rt and this means that to some extent it has been possible to slow down the course of the virus, which, however, would have started running again in a decisive way had it not been the measures taken. This was stated by the director of Prevention of the ministry of health

Gianni Rezza

at the press conference organized at the ministry of health on the analysis of the data of the regional monitoring of the control room. The news in the daily bulletin today will be the

column dedicated to rapid antigenic tests

: the confirmation of cases is already sanctioned at EU level not only with molecular but also antigenic tests. "Antigenic tests are a useful aid when it is necessary to quickly make public health decisions.

The director of Prevention of the health ministry Gianni Rezza said at the press conference of the control room.

"Antigenic tests have performances almost comparable to molecular tests, which however remain the standard".

"

By the end of the month or early February, the vaccination phase of the over-80s will begin.

For now, the vaccination schedules are respected and even anticipated. For now, I am not officially delayed by Pfizer, but it does not seem to me that there are supply problems. . Gianni Rezza said at the press conference on the weekly monitoring of the epidemic from Covid-19. "We will not be able to achieve

herd immunity through vaccinations for 6-8 months

but the first goal is to bring down the epidemic, severe cases and deaths and making Covid-free hospitals.

This was stated by the Director of Prevention of the Ministry of Health Gianni Rezza at the press conference on the weekly monitoring of the Covid-19 epidemic.

 There is an

overall increase in the risk of an uncontrolled

and unmanageable

epidemic

in the country due to a widespread increase in the probability of transmission of SARS-CoV-2 in a context where the impact on healthcare services remains high in most regions. / PPAA.

The Rt index has been equal to 1.09, up for five weeks: this is what the draft of the weekly monitoring of the Ministry of Health and the Higher Institute of Health shows.

THE ISS PRESS CONFERENCE

In the week under evaluation (4/1 / -10 / 01/2021), a further slight increase in the incidence in the country is observed (183.36 per 100,000 inhabitants).

The increase in the incidence was

"relatively contained thanks to the mitigation measures adopted during the holiday period"

.

But in Naples, for example, Covid contagion is increasing by 18% after the Christmas holidays.

"This week we confirm the

general

worsening

of the epidemiological situation in the country already observed the previous week".

Eleven Regions / PPAAs report a high risk classification (compared to 12 the previous week), 10 moderate risk (including 4 at high risk of progression to high risk in the next few weeks) and none at low risk.

Nine regions (Abruzzo, Emilia-Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Piedmont, Puglia, Sicily, Umbria and Valle d'Aosta) have a punctual Rt greater than one in the lower limit, compatible with a type 2 scenario. Another 10 have a compatible Rt with a type one scenario but they are all but one with an average Rt above one or just below.

Two Regions / PPAA (Bolzano and Lombardy) have a punctual Rt greater than 1.25 even in the lower limit, therefore compatible with a type 3 scenario. High incidence value in the monitoring week in the Veneto Region (365.21 per 100,000 inhabitants ), PA of Bolzano (320.82), Emilia Romagna (284.64), and Friuli Venezia Giulia (270.77).

And throughout the territory it is still

far from levels that would allow the complete restoration of the identification of cases and tracing

of their contacts.

"The NHS showed the first signs of criticality - we read - when the value at a national level exceeded 50 cases per 100,000 in seven days and a criticality in the maintenance of services with high incidences".

There are 12 Regions / PPAAs that have an employment rate in intensive care and / or medical areas above the critical threshold (compared to 13 the previous week) while the employment rate in intensive care at national level continues to be above the critical threshold (30%).

Overall, the number of people admitted to intensive care increased slightly from 2,579 (04/01/2021) to 2,636 (12/01/2021);

the number of people admitted to medical areas also increased slightly, passing from 23,317 (04/01/2021) to 23,712 (12/01/2021).

Palù, the virus varies but vaccines neutralize

 - "The Coronavirus variant is the logical event of any virus that spreads: the more it replicates, the more it mutates".

The president of AIFA, Giorgio Palù, reiterated this in Marghera (Venice).

"The virus is Chinese - he stressed - they told us, even if for 4-5 months they did not tell us that it was transmitted from man to man, and the WHO was unable to return with a shred of evidence. From many studies, some in pre-print, we are certain that vaccines and vaccine sera neutralize the variants. For the South African one from AstraZeneca we are told that higher titers are needed to neutralize it, but it neutralizes itself. "
