(ANSA) - ROME, JAN 15 - British singer Marianne Faithfull, who suffered from a severe form of coronavirus in April 2020, told The Guardian newspaper (interview shot by AFP agency) that she may never be able to sing again again due to the after-effects of the disease.

The 1960s rock icon, now 74, had spent more than three weeks in the hospital after contracting a covid-19 cheese, which raised fears for her life.

"All I know is that I was in a very dark place - it was probably death," she said in a conducted interview before the release of her latest album at the end of April She Walks in Beauty, recorded largely before contracting the virus.

Although she is now out of danger, Marianne explains that "her lungs are still not doing well" and that she must regularly take in oxygen, which makes her fear that she can no longer sing.

"A doctor came to see me and told me he didn't think my lungs would ever recover," explained the one who embodied rock n 'roll from the punk scenes of New York and Swinging London.

"I may never be able to sing again", "maybe it's over", added Marianne Faithfull, "I would be incredibly upset if that were the case."

Marianne Faithfull, however, retains hope and waits for a "miracle" to return her voice.

The singer also confided that Covid-19 left her with intense fatigue and an "incredible" short-term memory loss.

"I remember the distant past very well. These are the recent things I don't remember," he explained, "You can't know how terrible it is." Ld Lifetime Achievement Award.
