On the first day of the implementation of the curfew throughout the territory, the epidemic figures still remain on a high plateau.

This Saturday, Public Health France counted 196 new deaths due to Covid-19, and 21,406 new contaminations.

In detail, 196 deaths have occurred in hospital in the past 24 hours, bringing the total deaths caused by the epidemic to 70,142.

24,985 patients are currently treated in hospital following an infection with the new coronavirus, including 2,731 in intensive care, against 24,240 patients in hospital seven days ago, and 2,632 in intensive care.

More than 400,000 people vaccinated

Santé Publique France also counts 21,406 new positive tests in the last 24 hours, against 20,177 recorded seven days ago.

In terms of vaccinations, the Directorate General of Health announces in a press release that to date, 413,046 people have been vaccinated since the start of the campaign at the end of December.

77,012 patients were vaccinated in Ile-de-France, 43,949 in Nouvelle-Aquitaine, and 43,340 in Auvergne Rhône-Alpes.

To counter these figures, which are rising slightly, the government has announced the establishment of a curfew throughout France from 6 p.m. this Saturday.

“It appears that this measure has health efficiency.

In the first 15 departments where the curfew was implemented at 6 pm, the increase in the number of new cases is two to three times lower ”, then justified Prime Minister Jean Castex.
