On the occasion of the promotion of the Yellow Pieces operation, the First Lady returned to her contamination with Covid-19, and assured

Like her husband, she has recovered well from Covid-19.

Coming on the set of TF1's television news this Sunday evening to promote the Yellow Pieces operation, Brigitte Macron also spoke of her contamination with the coronavirus, her position on vaccines, as well as the possibility of a campaign by her husband in 2022 .

"I was sick, but it went well," said the First Lady, questioned by Anne-Claire Coudray about her contamination at the end of December, at the same time as Emmanuel Macron.

"I had a median form" of the disease, said Brigitte Macron, detailing common symptoms of Covid-19: "loss of taste, loss of smell, fatigue, migraine".

A contamination which allowed her to understand "how anxiety-provoking it is", in particular if a patient is alone, unlike her, who was isolated with the president at Fort de Brégançon.

Brigitte Macron will be vaccinated

Asked about the vaccination against Covid-19, Brigitte Macron was clear: yes, "of course", she will be vaccinated.

As soon as possible, "I will immediately get myself vaccinated, I have confidence in medicine," she said, praising the rapid work of scientists but also of caregivers during the period.

Herself a teacher by training, Brigitte Macron then recalled the importance of keeping schools open, especially for students "who tend to drop out".

“There is a physical need, even for students in lecture halls,” she said.

Emmanuel Macron's wife also expressed her solidarity with the cultural community, which considers itself sacrificed by the periods of curfews and confinement.

“We are with them, we miss them very much,” she said, adding that the inability to go to the cinema, the theater, or the museum created a “loss of meaning”, “difficult” to accept.

"I have no say in 2022"

The last question put to the First Lady, however, remained unanswered: does Emmanuel Macron aim to stand for the presidential election in 2022?

For now, Brigitte Macron says that "this is not the immediate concern" of the president.

"He does not tell me about it, we talk a lot about the virus, about the international situation", but not about 2022, she guaranteed.

The president's wife believes that she does not have to influence his projects.

“I don't have a say, and I certainly won't say it,” she added.

“It's a decision that we make alone.

If he takes it, he will ask me to accompany him.

[…] We cannot take it together, it is so heavy, because we must be able to manage the rest ”, judges the First Lady.

“If we don't feel called, invested, it's mission impossible.
