2021-01-18T14:53:31.345Z

The gala will be held on March 6 in Malaga in a ceremony "contained and appropriate to the times", according to the Film Academy

According to the president of the Film Academy, Mariano Barroso, it will be an act "contained, responsible and appropriate to the circumstances" marked by the pandemic.

There will be no nominee parties or movie-related celebrations.

There are already two awards announced: the one of honor for Ángela Molina, and the one for animation length, for

La gallina Turuleca,

Adding the eight nominations for directing, the Academy has opted for parity.

On the other hand, the academics who have voted have lost the historical opportunity to include in the jackpot prize, the best feature film, a documentary,

The Year of Discovery,

by Luis López Carrasco, which due to critical repercussion and festival journey (with numerous awards ) seemed called for more nominations than the only two received: best documentary and best editing.

In the academy, however, its director and one of the producers, Luis Ferrón, confessed their happiness for the couple of candidacies and the persistence of the echoes of 92 today.

And the need for there to be all kinds of proposals: “Cinema is either plural or it is not.

And the normal thing should be that documentary and animation films enter more categories ”, of which

a priori they

are due due to their format.

In the interpretation part, Mario Casas has entered the best lead actor, for

No Killing

If the latter obtained it, he would achieve his third Goya: he already has him as a protagonist and revelation, and thus complete a trio only previously won by Laia Marull.

Trailer of 'The Girls'

Adú,

by Salvador Calvo, begins with the attempt of a boy in Cameroon to reach Europe.

In turn, an environmental activist (Luis Tosar) fights against poaching and the reunion with his daughter (Anna Castillo) recently arrived from Spain.

The third story of the drama takes place in Melilla, a group of civil guards prepares to face a large number of sub-Saharan Africans who have started the assault on the fence.

The film is, of the candidates, the one that has had the best commercial journey, thanks to its pre-pandemic premiere (on January 31, 2020) and to being a release made by Mediaset.

His team complained, however, at the Academy, that it was not released on DVD and they hope that the distributor will now take the step.

In

Akelarre

, the Argentine Pablo Agüero stands in 1609 to show how an inquisitor tortures a group of teenagers from a coastal town while the men of the town are at sea.

They only have one power, that of speech, and they will try to use it to escape a dire fate, as if they were Sherezade in

The Thousand and One Nights.

Girls,

which premiered at the last Berlinale, and won the Biznaga de Oro at the last Malaga festival, describes Spanish society at the beginning of the years through the experiences of a girl in her leap into adolescence ninety.

Its protagonist, Andrea Fandos, cannot be a candidate, since the Academy, from

Pa negre,

prohibited children from being eligible for the awards.

After reading the nominations, its director, Pilar Palomero, was very satisfied with the nine nominations, especially the one for best film: "It encompasses the entire team."

And about the strong connection with the public, he noted: “I have no clear explanation.

Yes, I have discovered many Celias [name of the girl protagonist] in the discussions after the screenings, and that many people have chosen our film as the first to see after the confinement ”.

Girls

was re-released last Friday, and two days ago it won the award for best film at the Forqué awards, which are awarded by the producers.

Rosa's wedding

starts when a dressmaker decides to get away from the whirlwind that engulfs her: a job that doesn't let her rest, a widowed father in need of affection, some brothers who don't listen to her - and who use her, like her friends, like private maid.

Rosa presses her vital nuclear button, and vows that she will be true to herself, to take care of herself.

And what better act of reaffirmation than a wedding, but a wedding with herself, in her hometown, Benicàssim, where she will find refuge in her mother's abandoned tent.

In the international sections, candidates for best Ibero-American film are the Chilean

The Topo Agent,

the Colombian

The Forgetful We Will

(At the Fernando Trueba Academy, its director, whose birthday is right on January 18, joked with his strange feeling of participating in this category, although he highlighted that the film is 100% Colombian and that it proudly represented that filmography), the Guatemalan

La Llorona

and the Mexican

I'm not here anymore.

And for best European film the Polish

Corpus Christi

is nominated

,

the French

The Officer and the Spy,

and the British

The Father

and

Falling

(Viggo Mortensen's drama has entered with this nationality).

The candidatures were read this Monday morning at the headquarters of the Academy by Ana Belén and Dani Rovira, a week late with respect to the initially scheduled date.

The postponement was forced by the ravages of the storm

Filomena.

After publishing the list, the Academy has rectified in the Goya section to the best special effects by repeating two teams (the rules prevent it): hence

Adú,

who had 14 nominations, has remained at 13 and

Secret Origins

has passed from two to three.
