In the adventure film "Master & Commander - Until the End of the World" Russell Crowe plays the intrepid captain Jack Aubrey.
On the hunt for French ships, the figure sometimes defies criticism from the crew.
The sometimes rough handling of other opinions, Crowe seems to have maintained in real life a good 17 years after the film was released.
The native New Zealander reacted sensitively to criticism of the film.
“That's the problem with the kids today.
No concentration"
A user had accused him on Twitter that "Master & Commander" was only good for falling asleep.
"I never made it past the ten-minute mark," says the tweet.
Even though Crowe is actually an actor who draws attention to himself.
Apparently Crowe didn't want to leave it that way.
More than a week after the critical tweet, he spoke up on Twitter: “That's the problem with the children today.
No concentration, «wrote the 56-year-old.
The film tells an »epic story« that is »brilliant«, »demanding« and »detailed«.
“Master & Commander” is “definitely an adult film”.
Crowes' assessment was followed by several colleagues from the film industry.
Regarding the criticism, director Peter Ramsey ("Independence Day") wrote: "This guy's a bloody idiot." The film was "great and you are great at it."
Actor Jash God ("Jobs") also agreed: "A perfect film".
In fact, after its publication in 2013, »Master & Commander« was received largely positively.
Director Peter Weir's $ 140 million production won two Oscars and other awards for best camera and sound editing.
