The info not to be missed

The vaccination campaign is now being extended to people over 75 who do not live in nursing homes, as well as to nearly 800,000 people with “high risk” pathologies.

This Monday, the Minister of Health, Olivier Véran, assured that the milestone of one million French people vaccinated against Covid-19 would be "largely reached by the end of the month", on the sidelines of a visit to the Grenoble University Hospital on the first day of this vaccination campaign for the "general public".

In total, 6.4 million people are thus called upon to be vaccinated in more than 800 centers.

The Minister of Health, who invites "patience", aims between 2.4 million vaccinations by the end of February "and perhaps 4 million if other vaccines ordered were to be approved".

What to also remember

  • Delphine d'Amarzit will head the Paris Stock Exchange.

This former advisor to François Fillon in Matignon, who worked for the Treasury, Canal + and Groupama, heads the Orange banking subsidiary.

On March 15, she will become the first woman to lead the Paris Bourse.

“Delphine d'Amarzit has been appointed Chairman and CEO of Euronext Paris and member of the Euronext management board” as of March 15, 2021, announced the stock market operator Euronext, which oversees six European stock exchanges (Paris, Amsterdam, Brussels, Dublin, Lisbon, Oslo).

  • Guadeloupe under surveillance.

As of Monday, all travelers arriving in Guadeloupe will have to commit "on their honor" to respecting a seven-day isolation, the prefecture announced in a statement.

When arriving in the Guadeloupe islands, travelers must already present a negative PCR test, carried out less than 72 hours before departure.

They will have to do another at the end of their one-week isolation.

It is currently the high tourist season in Guadeloupe.

  • Alexei Navalny soon fixed.

Vladimir Putin's No. 1 opponent was arrested upon his arrival in Russia on Sunday, after months of convalescence in Germany, following his suspected poisoning.

As expected, this arrest triggered many convictions around the world.

The President of the European Commission, the German Ursula von der Leyen, criticized the arrest of the Russian opponent and called for his "immediate release".

Navalny for his part denounced "the most total illegality" of the procedure targeting him, while he is currently appearing at the police station before a judge to rule on his detention.

The unexpected info

Something new in the sky!

Britain's Richard Branson's Virgin Orbit company successfully launched a rocket into space from the wing of a Boeing 747 for the first time on Sunday evening. It was Virgin Orbit's second attempt after a test missed in May 2020. “LauncherOne has reached orbit!

Everyone on the team who is not on mission control right now has gone nuts, ”the company wrote at 9:49 p.m. KST.

Today's sequence of events for # LaunchDemo2 went exactly to plan, from safe execution of our ground ops all the way through successful full duration burns on both engines.

To say we're thrilled would be a massive understatement, but 240 characters couldn't do it justice anyway.
