(ANSA) - TOKYO, JANUARY 18 - The Tokyo Stock Exchange starts the first session of the week down in anticipation of data on gross domestic product in China in the fourth quarter, while fears remain present about the recent growth of coronavirus infections in Japan.
At the opening, the Nikkei benchmark index recorded a decline of 1.02% to 28,229.07 points, and a loss of 290 points.
On the foreign exchange market, the yen is stable against the dollar at 103.80 while gaining ground against the euro, trading at 125.20.
