(ANSA) - WASHINGTON, JAN 19 - The US will seek "a stronger and longer agreement" with Iran: Tony Blinken said in the hearing confirming his appointment as secretary of state.
The US, he added, has an "urgent" responsibility in preventing Tehran from obtaining the nuclear weapon.
Blinken then said he supported the two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict but expressed doubts that it could be achieved any time soon. "The only way to secure Israel's future as a democratic Jewish state and give the Palestinians a state to which they are entitled is the so-called two-state solution," he said. "Realistically I think it's hard to see evolving short-term perspectives on this," he said. (HANDLE).
