The former candidate for the M 6 show was honored for his restaurant in the 16th arrondissement in Paris “Mosuke”.

His first restaurant, “Mosuke”, earned him a Michelin star in just… three months!

Ex-candidate of the last season of “Top Chef” on M 6, Mory Sacko relishes the prestigious red macaroon award announced on Monday January 18th.

“It really surprised me!

We were opened in September, October, November, then the containment measures fell.

They calculated the number of visits and did not take into account the duration of the opening.

It helped us, ”he enthuses, with his usual enthusiasm.

And for good reason: everything seems to smile on him.

This young 28-year-old cook with a strong sympathetic capital was named one of the five most promising chefs on the planet by “La Liste” last Thursday.

His speciality?

A cuisine combining Japanese, French and African influences.

Michelin Guide: Top Chef's Mory Sacko receives his first star

The pupil even surpassed the master.

Among the rewarded is the establishment of Hélène Darroze… juror of the M 6 program!

“It is a source of pride to tell myself that I am one of the first African gastronomy restaurants in the Michelin guide.

I am happy with the message that it sends, namely that it is a starry cuisine.

I worked a lot to get there and it's nice that it is bearing fruit, ”Mory Sacko says.

In a good mood despite the closure of restaurants

Still, it didn't start out as he imagined.

Its sign in the 16th arrondissement was initially due to open in May 2020. “The opening has been postponed because of the confinement.

The fact remains that the chef of Malian origin is delighted to be "rather lucky".

During his award, he saluted his parents' legacy.

Neither worked in the restaurant business, but his mother, a cleaning lady, cooked remarkably well.

“I never went into the kitchen.

It was his territory but I ate a lot, he laughs.

It is a way of giving them back, like many immigrant children, the sacrifices they may have made.

I know it hasn't been easy for them.

It's a way of telling them that they didn't do it all for nothing.

I dedicate this award to them to say thank you.

I had a modest but happy childhood in Seine-et-Marne.

It was my father who always told me to value work.

Despite the closure of restaurants, Mory Sacko maintains his good humor.

“I was not shot because I understand it.

We know that we are infected when we do not have a mask and we cannot eat without it.

However, I would like them to set a reopening date so that we can plan things.

This permanent vagueness is tiring.

"

In a new show on France 2 in March

The pandemic brought him back… to television.

Popular since “Top chef”, Mory Sacko was contacted by France 2 for the new program “Open kitchen: a chef on the road”, scheduled for March 2021. The concept?

He will meet cooks from different regions of France.

“I accepted because of the confinement otherwise I would never have had the time!

I liked the approach to the production because they didn't block me and asked me what I wanted to do.

I will reinterpret traditional recipes ”, he explains.

But no question of destined for the small screen.

“Having my show was not a goal.

It's the way of looking at production that appealed to me.

For now, we are leaving for a season and we will see for the rest.

With the new Michelin award, I must not disperse.

My project will above all be to succeed in the second reopening of Mosuke!

"

Now, Mory Sacko plans to open another restaurant "maybe in Africa".

And if this epicurean takes advantage of his chance, he does not forget where he comes from.

Recently, he participated with Adrien Cachot, finalist of the last season of "Top Chef" in online courses on the Airbnb platform for the benefit of "Article 1", an association that supports young talents from working-class backgrounds .

A meaningful choice.

“I succeeded but I can see that my brothers and sisters are struggling to advance their projects.
