There is now the right shampoo for every need.

Stiftung Warentest has now chosen the best product - the result should surprise you.

  • Solid shampoos

    and

    hair soaps

    are considered ecological and

continue to conquer the shampoo market.

  • The

    Warentest Foundation *

has now investigated whether it can compete with conventional shampoos.

  • Our brand new consumer newsletter will keep you up to date on

    consumer information

    and

Berlin - Those who do not belong to the “no-poo” movement use them as regularly as shower gel:

shampoos

.

There are now an infinite number of products on the market -

the manufacturers have something on offer

for every

skin and hair type

.

Recently,

shampoos

are no longer just available in their conventional form, but also as

hair soap

or

solid shampoo

.

While solid

shampoos

, from which the water is simply removed, often have a more

neutral pH value

, hair soaps with a pH value between 8.5 and 9.5 are fairly basic.

The

Stiftung Warentest

has now on the giant German

shampoo market

around and tested a total of 18 hair soaps, solid shampoos and liquid shampoos.

The solid hair products and hair

soaps

did less well

in the tests: three of them - including the

"Honey I washed my hair" shampoo from Lush

and the

"Solid Shampoo Normal Hair" from Foamie

- were only rated as "satisfactory" found.

The

 “Savion Natural Hair Soap” is

even only considered “sufficient”.

On the other hand, six other solid shampoos and all liquid test products were rated “good”.

While the

Stiftung Warentest

complained about

the

"Lush" shampoo

mainly because the "use-critical"

fragrance Lilial was used

in the packaging, which was quite ecological,

"Foamie" faked

more content in its solid shampoo than it actually contained .

With its

natural hair soap,

“Savion”

only got an

overall

rating

of 4.5

: Although the brand advertises that it is “fragrance-free”, the laboratory even found that the product contained the

allergenic fragrance limonene that had to be declared

.

Shampoo test: “sham packs” and eco-blenders exposed

As the online portal

Fit for Fun

reports left the

Stiftung Warentest

in June 2020, a total of 20 subjects with healthy up to a maximum slightly damaged hair on

product test

take part.

The

shampoos

were made available to them

“anonymously”

far from their

brand

and

packaging

.

The

Stiftung Warentest

wanted to determine to what extent the new fixed versions with the liquid

shampoos

are to be compared.

For the respective overall assessment, the

product

properties played

50 percent, the

application

30 percent, the

declaration

15 percent and the

packaging

five percent.

The

“Finigrana Rosemary Hair Soap”

was indeed the best product among the hair soaps, but with a

grade of 2.5

it only came third in the test.

While the suppleness, feel and shine - as with all other hair soaps in the test - left a lot to be desired, the

packaging

tore

the product

significantly upwards

at the end of the test with an

overall average of

1.1

.

Can hair soaps and solid shampoos compete with liquid shampoos?

Are the solid ones better for the environment?

We have tested it: Of 18 shampoos and hair soaps in the test, 14 do well, 3 are satisfactory and one is just enough.

Test winner

Among the

solid shampoos was Alverde

, the house brand of the

drugstore

chain DM

.

The product with

tangerine and basil scent came

second in the shampoo test

with an

overall score of 2.1

.

While the care properties were only rated with a grade of 2.3, the testers praised its ease of dosing and foam formation.

And with a grade of 1.1, the solid shampoo from

Alverde

also scored with its appearance.

The

number 1 of the Stiftung Warentest

should have surprised in the end: Among all the products tested, a

discounter shampoo

prevailed right

up to the top.

The test winner

was the

“Cien Fruit / Vitamin Day by Day” shampoo from the

Lidl *

discount chain

.

With an

overall grade of 1.9

, it puts all other

hair shampoos

in the shade - even though it contains preservatives such as sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate formic acid, as well as hard-to-break silicones and ammonium compounds.

These are clearly declared so that no points were deducted from him.

In all evaluation criteria, it was obviously able to convince the test subjects the most.

In addition to the above-average positive results in

hair washing and care

, the

Cien shampoo from Lidl is

also particularly attractive in terms of price.

The bottle costs

just

72 cents

in the discounter, which is why the

Stiftung Warentest

should see it as a clear price-performance winner.
