(ANSA) - NEW YORK, 19 JAN - In the long days of the pandemic, in which moving is perhaps one of the things that is most missing, art offers an at least imaginary journey through Italian beauties.

Christie's next project is an itinerary through Italy freely inspired by the Grand Tour in vogue in Europe between the 17th and 17th centuries.

A virtual journey, but also an auction and a mapping of modern and contemporary art of the main regions, including works by national artists but also by those international masters who have found inspiration in Italy, sometimes living and working on it or, simply, influenced by Italian culture in their practice.

If three centuries ago a GrandTour could last for months or even years, this initiative of the Milan office of Christie's will last 20 days, from January 20 to February 10, during which the "traveler" will have the opportunity to visit the Italian regions online, through the filter of the art of the last century.

We will therefore pass from the Veneto of Emilio Vedova, to Emilia-Romagna with the photographs of Luigi Ghirri, from Tuscany with the abstract art of Alberto Magnelli, to Umbria with Piero Dorazio.

And then the Lazio of Franco Angeli and Schifano.

The imaginary journey will then cross the Strait of Messina to reach the Sicily of Carla Accardi (few were travelers who ventured there three centuries ago) to pass through Sardinia to Maria Lai.
