(ANSA) - SIENA, JANUARY 19 - The overrun of the vehicle body line was assessed as "less than 40cm" and defined as "minimum" "given the type of vehicle and the route".
This is what is contained in the conclusions to the request for integration of the expert report on the accident to Alex Zanardi which led to the opening of an investigation after the former champion with his handbike collided with a truck along the provincial road between Pienza and San Quirico d ' Orcia (Siena).
According to what is learned from sources close to the investigation, the expert of the prosecutor's office of Siena, Dario Vangi, would have replied to seven new questions as an in-depth analysis of the conclusions of the pool of experts appointed by the Zanardi family lawyers, the engineer Giorgio Cavallin and the defense of the truck driver investigated for very serious damage the engineer Mattia Strangi.
Also according to what is learned, the position of the vehicle could have been dictated by the "presence of a cyclist in front of the truck and the beginning of the overtaking maneuver of the truck itself, however permitted".
Furthermore, the documentation filed in recent days in the prosecutor's office reveals how "Zanardi had a tendency to widen and round the curve, moving close to the centerline".
In his conclusions, the expert therefore confirms that the "accident occurred not due to the invasion of the lane" of the truck "but due to the presence of the vehicle".
In the coming weeks, the decisions of the prosecutor regarding the position of the truck driver regarding the possible request for indictment are awaited.
