With the authorization of the National Administration of Medicines, Food and Medical Technology (Anmat) to be able to apply the Sputnik V vaccine to people over 60 years of age, the Ministry of Health reported 12,112 new cases of coronavirus on Wednesday and another 150 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The data are known when the Anmat reported that, after analyzing the new information provided for the VacunaGam-COVID-Vac (Sputnik V) vaccine "
that it is within an acceptable margin of safety, immunogenicity and efficacy for the age group of over 60 years old
".
In summary, the agency was able to verify the "efficacy" of the immunization in the group in question and explained: "
This information reported an efficacy range of 91.8% of the vaccine for those over 60 years
; the immunization of the volunteers led to the formation of antibodies in 98.1% on day 28 after vaccination and the safety variable showed a profile that does not differ from that observed in the rest of the population ".
Despite the approval of the Anmat, older adults will not be vaccinated until the national Ministry of Health issues an official resolution, a merely administrative step but necessary to move forward with the campaign.
Although the first dose was already applied by the Buenos Aires Minister of Health,
Daniel Gollán
(65) and he became the first person to be vaccinated against covid-19, who is over 60.
On the other hand, the Minister of Health of the City, Fernán Quirós, said this Wednesday morning that the infections of coronavirus "have decreased very slowly" in the Federal Capital.
During the epidemiological report, the official explained that after the increase in cases detected since the end of December,
"in the last 5 to 7 days they have stabilized or have decreased very slightly."
